Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) is back and this time with a bit of surprise. She is now 43 and still bumbling though life. For her 43rd Birthday, Bridget and her co-worker Miranda (Sarah Solemani) where Bridget meets internet love guru Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey) and ends up having a one night stand with him. A week later she then has similar relations with her former boyfriend Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). She later finds out that she is pregnant but isn’t sure if the baby is Jack’s or Mark’s.
I loved the first Bridget Jones movie but the sequel not so much and I can tell that I absolute love this film. It has that same warmth and good ounce of comedy and romance that the first film had. Director Sharon Maguire (who directed the first Bridget Jones) has brought back the Bridget we know and love so much.
The jokes had me howling with laughter from start to finish. Emma Thompson, who had hand in writing the screenplay, steals the show with her performance as Bridget’s doctor. Colin Firth works his magic again with his dry humour as Bridget’s on/off Boyfriend. Where Patrick Dempsey brings some American humour into the mix. But it’s Renee Zellweger that gets the most laughs as she takes a very humorous and yet a human approach to a pregnant Bridget.
The soundtrack for the film was just perfect as each song set the scene very well. Composer Craig Armstrong has really out done himself with the instrumentals to each scene, which makes you feel happy one moment and quite sad the next.
I would defiantly recommend seeing this film if you love the first Bridget Jones, need something to see on a Friday night or just need a good laugh.
